With the limited time and inclination that I have to keep abreast of all of the campaigning, I find myself getting much of my information from fact-checking sites such as this. That way, I get to hear not ony the same soundbites that all the mainstream sources churn out (in some cases, more), but they're researched before I hear them. My three main sites for info, in order of my preference:
1. http://factcheck.org/ (The grandaddy of them all. The most even-handed, thourough one of the bunch, and they cite and link to all of their references.)
2. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/ (I like how you can sort by statements made by each candidate so that it's easy to tell that just about everything Tom Tancredo, for example, says is a load of poo. It's also nice to sort the statemets by attacks on certain candidates.)
3. http://blog.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/ (This one seems to editorialize more and be more subjective than the others - not exactly what I'm looking for in a "Fact Check" site. Plus, the snarky comments from embittered WaPo readers makes me want to live in a country without freedom of speech. But there are occasionaly some good artcles here.) |

i had to discuss an issue with the guy that's up in the appeals division.
he has a pitcher of what looks like baker tower on his desk.
next thing we know, we're discussing prank monkey, zavod, "jessie's girl", and all things dartmouth. i think it's the first dartmoth-related conversation (excluding general, "remember when..." amongst friends) i've had in 5 years.
and, yes, he like the monkey a lot. |

but they aren't like this. they're nothing like this. and even if there are some that somehow are, they aren't on stage at the presidential debates and they aren't producing shit, absolute, shit like this.
