Brett Favre
mmm, I wish I had a turkey sandwich right about now ...

man, that'd be sweet. it's true i don't have a whole lot to crow about dolphins-wise and i'm actually no heat fan neither. didn't have a florida team growing up and my sister had orlando magic season tickets for the first several years of their existence so i prefer them over riley's creation down south. not a big fan of the whole superfriends concept ... i hope they fall on their faces, really.

Yeah, the Bills blow. I'm in full-on "hey, give'em a chance; you never know" mode, and a Detroit friend of mine recently told me that is how all crappy teams' fans feel.

Meanwhile, congrats on another 7-9 season of mediocrity for Miami (and for losing to the Bills at home). And, along the same lines, congrats to me on the turkey and mustard sandwich I made myself for lunch today.

More importantly, are you a Miami Heat fan now? Lots of excitement down there.
perhaps the most perceptive reading ...

of the whole Favre saga -- incredibly, from a football player and FSU product to boot. although he did invent the Lambeau Leap (according to Wikipedia), so he must have something upstairs.

by the way, publius and rabble-rouser, who won the AFC East in 2008-09? and how shitsucking awful are the Bills?

another by the way, publius you still owe me dinner.

nothing like a bills fan and dolphins fan mixing it up...you guys can have a running argument this season over which one of your teams will end up in the cellar in the afc east...because as douchy as favre may be, i don't think even the jets will be able to finish below either of your teams...

but please don't let me stop you two...i am retired, after all...

carry on...
Good job

Your death post is perfectly placed in a thread that also includes Farve's comeback and the Miami Dolphins.

any thread regarding the douchiest anything in the NFL will always lead to a discussion of the Miami Dolphins.

henne was really fragile at michigan -- four year starter, including 39 consecutive prior to the injury vs. Oregon, holds school records for career completions, attempts, passing yards and touchdown passes and is second only to Drew Brees for career TD passes in league history for the allegedly great Big Ten. to think he did all of that while while sitting on the bench injured half the time, it's really quite amazing. as for "almost" losing his job, i recall quite vividly when michigan was trying to move brady over for drew henson, who also did squat at michigan and everywhere else he ever played. so i'm not all that convinced that Lloyd Carr's machinations at QB mean too much. it's amusing to see you try to argue me into submission on this question. the fact is it seems that henne has all the tools necessary to compete at the next level. will he do well? obviously (again) i don't think anyone can know at this point, after all of three weeks of training camp. as for ginn, i really hope you're right. but he was drafted as a too-small receiver with blazing speed and a bum wheel that negated that speed. i haven't seen anything much from him, neither as a WR or kick returner. and the latter place is somewhere a rookie can really make an impact (see Hester, Devin). an impact player? doesn't look like it to me. worth drafting at number 9? doesn't look like it to me. but hey, i hope you're right.
classic fins fan indeed

You think Ginn is the one with durability issues, even though he was injured exactly once in his three years at OSU, and that was on a freak incident after a TD, while Henne was injured his entire senior season and almost lost his job to a blowhard frosh bitch who doesn't even play in Ann Arbor anymore? Really? Let's compare.

Henne: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPZJtRWihB8

Ginn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGyrgqOKZLg

He might be the next Brady because they both blew at Michigan?
obviously

the jury's out on Henne, but he's impressed everyone who has seen him, not just the beat writers. also, i saw what he did in his last college game against florida. as for ginn ... well, i hope you're right, but everything i've read says he's been dropping down the depth chart steadily. also, i saw what he did in his last college game -- burned for a TD and then left with an injury. it just doesn't look like the guy is primed to have a long and successful NFL career. who was the last heavily-discounted Michigan QB to start in the NFL again? oh, that's right, Tom Brady. i may be a classic fins fan, but you're a classic Ohio Stater. get over that terrible team! or do you need another ass-kicking from an SEC team to clue you in?
Just like a phins fan...

to look at Ginn and Henne and think that Ginn's a possible bust and Henne could be The Real. Pah-lese.
nah, i think that's a good deal
posted by: squisshy 16:59 8.16.08
they're going nowhere this year and probably not next. by all accounts i've read, it's a real possibility that while Beck might be a bust (and maybe not the last one of the CamCam era ... i'm lookin' at YOU, ted ginn jr -- you and your whole family) Henne could be the real deal. so while pennington is not the greatest, he's a step up for now and also, again by all accounts i've read, a good leader and a good mentor. he doesn't have the arm (but Henne does) but he's got the knowledge and savvy (which Henne doesn't). so let him play for a year or two and let Henne learn while they improve the ... various ... other areas of the team that need improving -- tops among them the offensive line. then hopefully they'll be ready to take off (start humming Gonna Fly Now) once Henne is ready to pilot them.
The saddest part of this debacle
posted by: camdolphin 16:40 8.15.08
is that the Dolphins got stuck with Pennington. Now, the Dolphins had absolutely no one prior to his arrival, so of course he's a step up. But he was never a QB who scared me. I even looked forward to playing him, he'd stay in the pocket holding that ball for an eternity. Almost as long as Rob Johnson (I distinctly remember - back when the phins had playoff aspirations - fretting over whether Rob Johnson would be healthy enough to start for the Bills. That guy was terrible. He was good for a minimum 6-7 sacks a game and a critical fumble). The dolphins are headed into a new era indeed, and it's frightening.
i may be retired as a professional football fan

he "feels bad for aaron rodgers a little".

that's just fucking awesome, and so great of brett to acknowledge that screwing with the career of a quarterback whose been riding the pine for 3 years and now has to replace you (all of which is hard enough, i mean the pressure of playing qb in green bay after 15 years of favre is probably something absurd) is something worth feeling bad about.

of course, he also used greta von susstren of fox news to break the silence.

class all around, brett. i think i will hate you forever.
i agree ...

douchiest comeback ever. the word does seem appropriate.
the douchiest comeback attempt ever?

and, yes, i think the word douchiest is perfectly apt.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-packers-favre&prov=ap&type=lgns

he really is quite a trail-blazer in the comeback school, eh?

repeated threats to retire for 2-3 years before retirement? check.

elongated final farewell season? check.

disappointment in final high-pressure game? check.

back-and-forth changing of one's mind after announcing "final" retirement? check.

so far, it's pretty standard.

but then we go with the "force the team to take me back" mode ... which i think is pretty new.

and, as if that is not enough, he also admits, while doing so, that he's pretty much not only fucking with the team's plans and his former teammates' careers.

and, then, there's the coup de grace: he's going to "mess with" team ownership by publically toying with the idea of "just showing up" at training camp.

what a fucking douche.
