(as those of us in the know have taken to calling them)...
i don't think i need to any more than quote their wikipedia entry...
"Care Bears on Fire formed in 2005 when Sophie, Lucio and Isadora 'Izzy' were in 5th grade"
that's right. 5 years ago they were in 5th grade. which means that right about now they're 16 or so (the braces in the video are another detail i didn't notice first go-round).
apparently they are key players in the burgeoning "kid-core" scene...
like sarah palin and herpes, care bears on fire really are the gift that keeps on giving....

"care bears on fire"?
are you fucking kidding me?
it's not that it's lame and lacks any hint of subtlety (show don't tell!). it's -- if i may paraphrase bukowski's character in barfly -- just so fucking *obvious*.
and by the way, (AKRON OHIO'S OWN!) the waitresses pretty much did it first, and did it way, way, way better.

good grief...it's so bad it almost laps itself and becomes good again...but not really. it's the stupidest thing i've seen in a while. |

| i wasn't sure what to call this thread... |

i decided to start it to have a place to record the more ridiculous lyrics i hear in pop songs "these days"...which is my case means songs i hear at the gym. but then i decided that this thread will be a catch-all of impressionistic tidbits which tingle my increasingly curmudgeon-esque antennae...sometimes i'll editorialize, sometimes i'll just record...an approach to life i learned from that guy who beats on whitney houston.
to start with, here is a song lyric i heard at the gym and wrote down a few weeks ago:
"shush girl
shush your lips
do the helen keller and talk with your hips"
lord knows i'm not a pc character and don't believe in the false piety which puts "saints" up on pedestals...and i'm certainly not above the odd helen keller joke now and again...but even i thought this one took crass to a particularly smarmy level...
a bit of research turns up the fact that the name of this group that recorded this gem is (you just couldn't make this up): 3OH!3
and the name of said song is "don't trust me"
that's all for now |
